Saturday March 17, a major retrospective, containing 66 paintings by Meta Isæus-Berlin, will open in the art gallery of the Bohuslän Museum. The earliest work dates back to 1980 and the latest just left the studio.
A whole new body of work is presented alongside the older pieces, giving a thorough introduction to the artist's oeuvre.
A catalogue has been produced for the exhibition. The exhibition at Bohusläns museum lasts until 28 May and will then continue to Linköpings konsthall 9 June - 19 August 2012
Meta Isæus-Berlin's own words about the exhibitions:
When I came to the gallery, I immediately saw the potential of the rooms.
The large spaces invited me to travel in time.
The gap between the two rooms represented the 8 years during which I didn’t even pick up the paint brush.
In these rooms, the exhibition spans, starting with “My first oil painting” from 1980, and ending with “The blossoming fruit tree in the grotto/Blossoming fruit tree on dark ground (Hill)” which I completed this year.
The oblong room, much like a portrait gallery in which old rows of balloon-pant-clad kings would hang.
My friends and my family have helped to co-create this project, which in itself is a micro time capsule.
Welcome!
