Sigurður Guðmundsson  was born in Reykjavik in 1942 but has developed his artistry in The Netherlands. Between 1978 and 1986 he taught at Acedemie voor Kunst en Industrie in Enschede in The Netherlands. Together with 19 other artists Gudmundsson founded Reykjavik’s The Living Art Museum, dedicated to experimental and innovative contemporary visual art. In 1976 Gudmundsson represented Iceland at The International Pavilion at the 37th edition of The Venice Biennale. In 1978 he represented Iceland at The Nordic Pavilion at the 38th edition of The Venice Biennale. Ever since the start of his career he has reached wide international success with several exhibitions and public commissions all around the globe.
